I was immediately transfixed when I saw this scene. The textural quality of the rock; the gulls standing on top of the rock; the water breaking to the side and around the rock; the waves from behind the rock and into the distance; and the balancing composition with the smaller (but in reality larger) Oaia Island in the distance. I wanted to capture the waves in a soft, yet detailed way while sharply rendering the gulls on the rock.
